I knew that I had to go get some help when I scored a big fat 3 for Chemistry at the start of the second year of IB. I am so thankful that I discovered Desmond's Chemistry tuition.

1. Super focused

Desmond has this uncanny ability of compressing pretty much the ENTIRE big chapter (e.g. Organic Chem) into just a few sessions. Plus he does not blindly go through the content. He always highlights the parts thats important for the exams and tells us what to memorise and what not to. That’s literally spoon feeding, which saves me days of headache!

I am also very impressed by how Desmond managed to go through the entire of Chemical Bonding in just 3 hours. I joined Desmond's lessons pretty late but the additional 1 to 1 adhoc lessons helped me to catch up with the class.

2. Structured

Desmond knows exactly what to go through every lesson so that he finishes the syllabus in time and then proceeds to go through the past year exam questions. When it comes to knowing what one is doing, Desmond is the man to trust. He also prepares revision questions before lessons so that I get reminded about the stuff I previously learnt.

3. Nice

Desmond is one kind soul. He literally doesn't mind staying back after every lesson and answering all the questions I send to him via WhatsApp.

Last year, I pretty much spammed Desmond with A LOT of questions via text (especially during the exam season), causing his phone to vibrate pretty much every few minutes. Nevertheless, he answered all of them properly and I'm super grateful for it.

So yeah, thank you Desmond! I couldn't have scored 7 for HL chem without you!

When I first joined Desmond’s HL Chemistry class, I was extremely lost in school and had not much idea as to even approach basic Chemistry questions. I was scoring grade 4s and 5s for Chemistry in Year 6, and I was really worried because no matter how I studied, I just could not understand the subject matter. However, Desmond explained Chemistry concepts very well and also effectively planned his lessons so that we managed to cover all required revision before our actual IB exams. Desmond’s confidence in his teaching  reassured me, because I knew that I would be able to get 7 in Chemistry as long as I followed what Desmond told me to do. Since my secondary school days, my Chemistry has been very weak cause I often missed school due to my involvement in competitive tennis. Hence, I really struggled in my first year of IB for HL Chemistry, and just managed to scrape 5 points for the finals. It was then when my friends recommended me to join Ace Brainery. I thoroughly enjoyed my lessons with Mr Desmond as they were interactive and productive. He is able to break down complex concepts into tiny digestible bits, allowing me to grasp the concepts much better. Mr Desmond not only does work with us during the weekly scheduled sessions, but also helps his students via whatsapp even in the late hours of the night (he has replied to my chem queries numerous times after midnight). His care and dedication has really helped me improve my Chemistry. I definitely would not have been able to achieve my final Chemistry results without his help!  Before I joined Ace Brainery, Chemistry was one of those subjects that made me feel like I could not reach my fullest potential regardless of how much I studied. Desmond constantly encouraged us to ask him questions, even after lessons, and he was extremely helpful. He explained abstract concepts into content that I could easily grasp and understand.

Lessons with Desmond are never mundane. He always challenges us to think beyond what is given in the school notes. His teaching most definitely strengthened my foundation in the subject. Together with the invaluable study tips he taught us, I was able to perform to my full potential during the IB exam.

Desmond doesn’t just fulfil the bare minimum as a teacher but goes the extra mile. He has helped me gain much confidence in Chemistry, even in topics that I used to be the worst in. He always motivated me to study harder and keep doing better. His dedication and passion are hard to find elsewhere.

I first joined Ace Brainery at the start of Year 6, after barely passing my Year 5 promotional exams. Within just a few lessons, I could see an improvement in my Chemistry proficiency. Being taught by Desmond for 2 years definitely developed my love for Chemistry, making it my favourite and strongest subject. Desmond is one of the most hardworking and dedicated teachers I have met. I really appreciated everything from the tricky questions he asked us in class, to his useful exam tips and strategies, and the constant help he gave students both during and after class. What makes Desmond a really special tutor is how much he cares for each and every one of his students, catering to their individual needs. Desmond’s guidance has allowed me to consistently score 90 and above in all my Year 6 examinations, with a final score of 93 for my IB HL Chemistry exam, and I could not be more grateful. After my O Levels with Wilson, I continued my lessons at Ace Brainery under Desmond. The jump from O Levels to IB Chemistry was indeed quite big, but Desmond made difficult concepts easy for me to digest. I joined Ace Brainery at the end of year 5. I had been struggling to cope with both my CCA and my academics and ended up falling  rather behind my peers in chemistry. I had been looking around for tuitions, and people around me have been encouraging me to try out Ace Brainery. And I must say that it was the right decision to give them a shot! Desmond has a unique way of teaching that really piqued my interest in Chemistry. The best part is that he cares for each and every one of his students. He bothers to go out of his way to help me. I joined Ace Brainery after my secondary 4 mid year Chemistry exam which I failed. I started 1 on 1 lessons with Wilson who was extremely encouraging even though I really struggled to grasp the concepts initially. After only 2 months of lessons with him, my Chemistry grade jumped from a 3 to a 6.

In IB, I continued lessons at Ace Brainery under Desmond. His teaching was extremely helpful in bridging the gap between secondary and IB Chemistry, and keeping us on top of the curriculum for the entire of the 2 years. He taught us effective ways to learn the content, as well as efficient ways to tackle assessments - both of which played a large role in seeing me through my IB exams. I’m especially grateful that Desmond was always considerate of our busy schedules and gave us the bare minimum when it came to homework, and also for his patience in answering our many questions. He really made sure that we understood what we were learning and even took the time to schedule revision classes for us before our exams.
